{"id":47546,"date":"2022-07-01T00:08:54","date_gmt":"2022-07-01T00:08:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iarc.spherical.horse\/news-events\/iarc-monographs-evaluate-the-carcinogenicity-of-occupational-exposure-as-a-firefighter\/"},"modified":"2026-07-17T14:17:44","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T14:17:44","slug":"iarc-monographs-evaluate-the-carcinogenicity-of-occupational-exposure-as-a-firefighter","status":"publish","type":"news-events","link":"https:\/\/iarc.spherical.horse\/fr\/news-events\/iarc-monographs-evaluate-the-carcinogenicity-of-occupational-exposure-as-a-firefighter\/","title":{"rendered":"<em>IARC Monographs<\/em> evaluate the carcinogenicity of occupational exposure as a firefighter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the cancer agency of the World Health Organization (WHO), has evaluated the carcinogenicity of occupational exposure as a firefighter.<\/p>\r\n<p>A Working Group of 25 international experts, including 3 Invited Specialists, from 8 countries was convened by the <em>IARC<\/em><em> Monographs<\/em> programme for a meeting in Lyon.<\/p>\r\n<p>After thoroughly reviewing the available scientific literature, the Working Group classified occupational exposure as a firefighter as <em>carcinogenic to humans<\/em> (Group 1), on the basis of <em>sufficient evidence<\/em> for cancer in humans.<\/p>\r\n<p>A summary of the final evaluations has now been published online in <em>The Lancet Oncology<\/em>.
